Costa Careyes is a really cool spot to stop over when you do an overnight charter with Yacht Charters Puerto Vallarta. The bay is beautiful even though it is a private area it is still really nice to see.
Costa Careyes is an exclusive luxury private estate resort comprised of Ocean Castles, Private Villas, Casitas and Bungalows. It is located in Costalegre on the Mexican Pacific beaches of the southern coast of Jalisco, Mexico, about 100 miles south of Puerto Vallarta. The area was founded by Gian Franco Brignone in 1968, this unique private beach resort combines the sensuality of the Mediterranean with a unique architecture and the hospitableness of Mexico. Where to Stay in Careyes Mexico
Careyes is not a place where you are going to find endless hotel options. That is not what Careyes is.
True to it’s exclusive and artistic vibe, you have the option of staying at the one hotel within the gated community, renting a smaller ( but very much beautiful) casita or a larger and over the top villa ( you know the kind that come with a chef or boat if you should need it). Though there are not endless hotel options, you still have several accommodation options to choose from- all of which are 5 star.
All of the villas have design elements that can easily be found within Architectural Digest ( no, really- many of them have been featured) and have their own personalities. Actually. When walking through some of the pathways, we saw signs for “Casa Azul” or “Casa Faro”- one was green, the other blue. One had integrated tile work along the door entrance while the other made me feel like I was transported to Morocco. This was just from the outside. I can’t even imagine how it would feel to step inside. I can’t wait to go back and experience one of the unique villas!
Where to eat in Careyes
Open-air, palapa-shielded Playa Rosa Beach Club, in the center of the namesake beach, is the main meeting point in Careyes, where everyone gathers for morning coffee and breakfast; midday margaritas (ask for a volcanic-salt rim) at the hibiscus-pink cocktail and juice bar; and Mediterranean-meets-Mexican (think fritto misto and fresh tuna tostadas) at the plywood picnic tables lining the grass. Stroll to the end of the beach, up the stairs through the casitas, and into the neighboring El Careyes Club & Residences to dine poolside at La Duna (the menu of modern Mexican can also be ordered at the sun loungers). Or, sidle up to Shiō’s intimate, nine-seat sushi bar, where the omakase menu shifts with what the cooperative of more than 60 local fishers catch that week.
