The well-known Isla Rio Cuale market in Puerto Vallarta is a fun place to practice your bartering skills while shopping.
There is a small piece of land on the Rio Cuale (river) that lies under the two bridges that join Centro Vallarta and Viejo Vallarta. This is Isla Cuale, where you will find many different vendors selling all kinds of art, jewelry, clothing and souvenirs. Most of the vendors in the market will barter with you and come down from their original asking price. Even if you do not have any shopping to do, Isla Rio Cuale is a nice attraction to visit on your vacation to Puerto Vallarta.
You will come across two swinging suspension bridges that pass over the Rio Cuale connecting the two markets. Many people walk these suspension bridges daily, but please be careful as they can be tricky. The Rio Cuale has a close-up view the incredible trees and vegetation that provide a blanket of shade at the market.
Check it out for yourself! It’s a nice stroll with many opportunities for souvenir purchases at a good price.
